Happy New Year from Hong Kong!
2014 is the Year of the Horse and this zodiac animal has some characteristics that fit with New Years Resolutions quite nicely.
1. Active & energetic. I’m going to give my fitness a new leash of energy by stretching my legs more and exploring some of Hong Kong’s great hiking trails. I’ve also had the public swimming pools, cycle paths and driving ranges on my to-do list for some time.
2. Money saving. I still don’t know what I’m doing when my contract here ends but saving for Thailand has made me realise that it’s easier than I thought to live off a lot less of my salary. I’m going to count the pennies for whatever happens when school’s out for summer.
3. Crowd pleaser. The Horse loves to be in a crowd. I’m not my best in new social situations but maybe this will be my year to change that. Being thrown into teaching and Hong Kong has helped me become a lot more confident in myself and around others.
4. Patient and positive. I can have a temper that sometimes gets the better of me. Teaching has forced me to be more patient but I still think there’s room for improvement. Spending two weeks in Thailand has shown me that worrying and stressing doesn’t get you anywhere but a relaxed and positive outlook on life gives you a fantastic boost.
