Getting Grouvly

So for those of you that don’t know, ‘Grouvly’ sets up three girlfriends with three guyfriends on a mass blind date. I signed up for one recently and it all worked out much better than I thought it would. Here’s a blog post I wrote for them about my experience….

How to be a Wuss at Ocean Park

I’ve never been great at theme parks. There’s no point denying it, I’m a bit of a wuss. Rides just aren’t my cup of tea. Nevertheless when my friends found out I’d lived in Hong Kong and hadn’t yet been to Ocean Park, they were keen to resolve this.

Niking: Night Hiking in Hong Kong

In an attempt to undo some of the damage our holiday in Boracay had done to our bodies, my flatmates and I have become a little obsessed with night hiking – or Niking as we like to call it.

Hiking Lion Rock

In Hong Kong the average working week is 6 days so once you’ve had a Sunday morning lie-in, there’s not much of your weekend left. Top Breakfast Spots in Hong Kong

I’m not a morning person and I doubt that’s going to change in a hurry. This means that during the working week I’m barely awake in time to shower, let alone feed myself more than a cereal bar hurriedly on my way to the MTR. Not on the MTR obviously, I’m no rebel. This clashes with another part of my personality because I am definitely a breakfast person. Luckily the Christmas break gave me some time to pile on the festive pounds and sample what Hong Kong has to offer in the breakfast sector. These are my favourite finds so far…

Zen Mode Unlocked

I was very naïve moving to Hong Kong and basing my pre-travel assumptions on the China I’ve seen on TV. Hong Kong is not what I was expecting which is both a blessing and a curse. It’s busy, it’s noisy and it’s claustrophobic – not quite the Zen experience I had built up in my mind. But it’s busy and noisy because it’s exciting – there’s so much going on it can be difficult to know where to start.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas was bigger and better than I expected at school. A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I would dress up for the Christmas party. “Of course” I replied. “An angel maybe?”…. No no… Santa Claus… with the beard!

The Big Move

I’ve entered the rat race. After 3 years of self-employment, I get up at 6.30(ish), commute for an hour, work 9-5, sign out, go home and receive my healthy regular, stable income at the end of the month. My freelancing past-self is screaming at me, cringing at all the times I said I’d never give it up. But I did and, for the most part, I have no regrets.
